Public speaking accounts for 70% of an academic’s output.

Clear, effective and professional communication skills are therefore absolutely essential to any aspiring academic. While we receive endless training in research skills, we are given little instruction in how to communicate this research effectively and too often, we simply leave our performance to ‘chance’. In an age where we all have the potential to be our own broadcasters, and when there is increasing pressure to disseminate our work to a broader audience, it is never been so important for academics to hone their communication skills.

Invite us to your university

We have organised workshops at universities up and down the UK. If you would like Speakeasy to host a workshop at your university please contact us.

Speakeasy workshops fuse together academic training with acting techniques.

We offer interactive workshops in which academics are given the opportunity to practice many of the tried and trusted techniques that actors employ in their performance. Our belief is that all those hours spent in the library or the lab are completely wasted if you are unable to communicate your research effectively. So take a look at our website, see what we do, how we do it and how you can sign up and ‘learn to be heard’…
